This amazing insect is rarely the subject of sculpture because of it’s dubious honor of being the most deadly creature on the planet as a carrier of malaria and other pernicious diseases. It is also one of the foundations of the global food chain which sustains all life. I am fascinated by it’s alien lifecycle, strange anatomy, and that it survived for 100’s of millions of years virtually unchanged.
