The Dodo was slightly larger than a full-grown turkey weighing up to fifty pounds with a formidable curved beak and no natural fear of man.  The first visitors reported that these strange birds stood curiously transfixed at the approach of the sailors who easily killed them with a single blow to the head with a rock or cudgel.
